This week’s appearance will mark the second outing at such an event for the car, following that at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in May. Accompanying it on the Genesis booth will be the 2019 Genesis G70, making its concours debut.

“Monterey Car Week is a prime opportunity for our team to reach one of the most influential global luxury markets,” said in a statement Manfred Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand.

“After showing Essentia at auto shows on three continents, we are thrilled to present it to the most discerning concours attendees in the world.”

Presented for the first time at the 2018 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) as the brand’s first electric vehicle, the Essentia is powered by a high-density battery pack that spins an undisclosed number of electric motors.

There are really no performance figures available, apart from the ones pertaining to acceleration: 0 to 60 time of only three seconds.

There’s no telling whether some version of the Essentia will be making it into production. Genesis, the luxury vehicle spin-off of Hyundai, will most likely use some of the tech featured on the car in its upcoming models.

The most intriguing of them is the Disconnectivity array of features. Being built from the get-go as a connected car, the Essentia is not only be linked to the Internet, but also to the infrastructure and other vehicles. That allows it, for instance, to recommend routes based on driver inclination and preferences, not based on generic elements like the quickest or more efficient route.

The concept can also communicate with the owners smart home, turning on lights or allowing access to delivery companies. It can also be used as a payment tool, through the mobile payments feature on the center screen.
