With 2014 now a thing of the past, 2015 came with sales figures for all Big Three automakers from Detroit Motor City. Without further ado, General Motors boasts with the most vehicles sold during the 12-month period that passed, clocking 2,935,008 automobiles and trucks despite all the recall scandals.
That figure translates to a volume increase of 5 percent over the 2013 tally. Per brand, Buick is leading the pack with an 11 percent gain, while GMC follows suit with a similar 11 percent gain in volume. As for Chevrolet, the golden bowtie manufacturer enjoyed a 4 percent increase in 2014, while the luxurious Cadillac marque sold 6.5 percent less vehicles in the US than it did back in 2013.
In terms of December 2014 sales, figures show that General Motors moved 274,483 vehicles, translating into the company’s best December sales in 7 years. Total sales were up 19 percent compared to a year ago, while retail sales were up 23 percent and fleet deliveries up 6 percent.
According to the manufacturer, combined sales of General Motors’ three-pickup lineup drove combined sales to roughly 87,000 examples a month ago, equating to a 43 percent increase compared to December 2013. Furthermore, 5 GM nameplates (Chevrolet Corvette and Spark, the Buick Enclave and Encore and the GMC Sierra) had their highest December sales ever.
An interesting detail is that the aging Chevrolet Camaro enjoyed a 32 percent sales increase in comparison to December 2013, though the all-new sixth-gen Camaro will land later this year as a 2016 model year. As for Cadillac, sales are down 11.1 percent compared to December last year. For a thorough rundown of December 2014 sales, check the PDF file attached below.
