The automotive world is filled with cars selling for €150,000 and sprinkled on top with just a few that sell for double or triple that. Bridging the gap between the two is what we commonly call tuners.
Yet what companies like Gemballa do is so much more than adding a new wings and bumpers. They've completely transformed the look of an already expensive car, making it even more expensive than before.

One such example is the so-called Gemballa Tornado, a car based on the Porsche Cayenne but from which only the headlights seem to remain. To make it, the Germans took most of the regular steel panels and replaced them with carbon fiber ones. The lightweight material was used for the hood, front wings, side sill covers, doors, front and rear aprons, as well as for a part of the rear hatch. The result is a weight reduction of 70 kg (154 lbs).

They've also retuned the engine of what used to be a 4.8-liter V8 biturbo from 500 horsepower to about 700 hp.

So, want to take a guess how much it costs? A factory-fresh Porsche Cayenne Turbo starts at €123,856 right now. Gemballa asks for three times that, as they themselves have listed the Tornado for €402,676. This, gentlemen, is the price of exclusivity!

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
