Gemballa, the German tuning company founded by the late Uwe Gemballa, has announced the availability of a new exhaust system for the ongoing Porsche 911.
The Gemballa company is renowned for its expertise with Porsche models, and this exhaust package was developed at the request of many owners of the 991 generation of the 911.

Gemballa says that the owners of the German sports car have sought an exhaust system that would provide more sound from their 911s, so they came up with this solution.

The German tuner offers several auxiliary parts to match this new sports exhaust system, which fits the standard components of the iconic model from Porsche. The stainless-steel sports exhaust from Gemballa for the Porsche 911 costs 3,800 euros without VAT.

Customers are offered a set of sports catalyzers for an extra 2,500 euros without VAT, but the system will fit the standard units catalytic converters without a hitch.

Other optional elements include a set of catalyzer replacement pipes, which cost 1,780 euros without VAT. The latter might not be street legal, and will probably require a reflash of the ECU, but Gemballa has not mentioned anything on the matter.

Another available upgrade is a set of Gemballa sloped sport end pipes for the exhaust, which has a price of 780 euros not including VAT. The standard end tips can be used as well.

The tuner has fitted the system with an electronically-controlled valve, which will provide a more silent operation when required, while opening the said valve will allow the user to enjoy a louder unit. Gemballa describes the result as a more sporty sound, which is “meatier.” You can hear it here.

The pipes of the exhaust system offered by Gemballa have increased in diameter when compared to the standard unit, and now have 70 mm in diameter. This modification, along with a different internal configuration, brings more loudness from the Porsche 911 Turbo.

The tuners at Gemballa specified that the flat-six engine of the Porsche 911 Turbo will get up to 20 HP on top of the standard unit if the new exhaust system is fitted with the company’s motor controller (ECU). Just adding the exhaust will bring up to 10 HP, the tuners say.
