Gemballa McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Crashed in VLN Race

A brand new McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race car run by Gemballa Racing was crashed during a VLN race at the Nurburgring last weekend. While we don’t have footage of the actual ‘Ring crash, we do have one of the car being put on a trailer.
The Gemballa racing team was only established in August 2011, when they announced they were buying to of these racing McLarens. And only in the 2012 motorsport season did they start racing on a competitive level.

“We chose the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 because we think this car has the potential to be one of the season’s leaders,” ” stated Steffen Korbach, team owner and Gemballa inverstor. “We have also put together a team of drivers and mechanics who are proven winners. Racing is in our blood! We want to win!”

The GT3 version of the car is powered by the 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, but detuned a bit from the road car. It features a bespoke racing gearbox, carbon safety cell, race front splitter, large fixed rear wing, optimized air vents at the front and a racing diffuser at the rear. All that and a snazzy paintjob, and the car you see in a pile of broken parts is worth no less than £310,000.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
