Volvo is now owned by Chinese automaker Geely, yet the oriental investors have so far not bee allowed to use any Volvo technologies in their cars. Well, that’s all about to change, with the signing of a new deal between the two automakers, which will allow Geely to use technologies which the Swedish manufacturer will be phasing out in the coming years.
Not many details have been made public, but apparently they will be using Volvo’s mid-size platform, interior air quality technology, as well as some safety kit. An official Geely statement said: "Volvo Car enjoys a leading advantage in a number of technologies... These technologies and experiences are valuable to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group's exploration into overseas market and its product quality improvement."

However, Volvo will not be short-changed in the deal, as they will also benefit from "Zhejiang Geely Holding Group's local market exploration experience and cost control experience can also be beneficial to Volvo Car's exploration in the Chinese market and increase in competitiveness."
