Geely Driver Accused of Speeding at 549 MPH

We're not sure how fast Superman could fly but we're confident than in case Clark Kent decides to race against a Geely CK-1, he'll surely arrive the second. Even if he wears his superhero suit. Wondering why? Listen to this: Francisca Al-Halase was caught on speed cameras on April 26 near Canada Road bridge, somewhere in South Africa.

And here's how it all begins. After only 19 seconds, the driver is once again flashed by speed cameras while speeding at 102 km/h (around 63 mph) near Randshow Road Bridge where the maximum allowed speed is 80 km/h (50 mph). So where's the catch? you might ask. Well, the two locations are 2.9 miles from each other.

According to some simple math done by the guys over at chinacartimes.com, this means Al-Halaseh was driving with a speed of 549 mph (883.5 km/h). So what? That's very possible given that the car in discussion is the Geely CK-1, a model which is on the road to stardom since Geely has so many plans to conquer the automotive world.

Stepping to more serious facts, the car is only capable of reaching a maximum speed of 105 mph (169 km/h) thanks to a 1.5-liter engine that develops only 94 horsepower.

What's interesting is that according to thenewspaper.com, the South African authorities insisted things are OK with the speed cameras and the only problem that might occur affects the clocks. If that happened, the 19 seconds interval between the two tickets is the solely glitch responsible for the unhuman speed.
