Several auto makers, some big, some small, will take their vehicles, some well known, others less so, in the GE sanctioned tour, hoping that this comparative display of electric models will do wonders for their business.
For the car makers taking part in the tour, however, we're sure that it will not be the average Joe that will be the main focus of the tour, but GE itself. The conglomerate is planning to buy 25,000 EVs by 2015 for its own fleet and for fleet customers, so we can all have a pretty good idea of what the names listed below are after.
GM, Ford, Toyota, Navistar, Smith Electric Vehicles, Mitsubishi, Coda, Smart and Think will join hand, recharge the vehicles and go trekking in San Francisco (March 10), Seattle (March 15), Los Angeles (March 17) and San Diego (March 22). The rest of the locations are yet to be announced.
“We’re committed to helping our customers learn what electric vehicles can do for their organizations,” said Clarence Nunn, GE Capital Fleet Services CEO. “Each of our tour stops will give participants first-hand exposure to the technical and business considerations for EV deployment and put them on a path toward adoption.”
