With a little over three months until the 2014 season of the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) starts, Mercedes-AMG driver and former DTM champion Gary Paffett had some interesting words to say about his ex-teammate and now competitor, Brunos Spengler.

“I think Bruno [Spengler] is a quicker driver than Martin [Tomczyk] and I think Bruno will beat him. However, I could be wrong. I think in races, if Bruno is out in front, he can go away and drive very well; that’s his strong point, he’s a good qualifier and can drive well at the front. The only down-side to Bruno, is that if he’s in the midfield, he can get caught up in incidents.” Paffett told TourCarTimes.

The Englishman drove alongside Bruno Spengler at Mercedes-AMG in the 2005 and 2006 seasons, and then again from 2007 until 2011, after which Spengler switched to the rivals from BMW from 2012 onwards, with whom he also won hist first and so far only DTM title.

Gary Paffett and recently-announced Paul Di Resta are currently the only confirmed Mercedes-AMG drivers in the 2014 season, but most Mercedes-AMG juniors from last year are expected to make a comeback.
