Galpin Ford GTR1 Unveiled at Pebble Beach

Galpin Auto Sports has taken the wraps off its Ford GTR1 supercar at the 2013 Pebble Beach. Described as a "vision of what the Ford GT may have looked and performed like today had Ford continued its evolution", the GTR1 is Galpin's first coach-built supercar and promises to deliver its future customers at 1,024 HP-worth of fun.

Powered by the same 5.4-liter V8 engine found in the Ford GT, but tweaked to offer almost double the power (1,024 HP vs. 550 HP) the Galpin GTR1 will be built in only six units. At least at first, with production to be extended to a maximum 24 examples. Pricing is set at an astounding $1,024,000 and Galpin says the GTR1 can produce 1,197 HP if fed with 100-octane fuel. The supercar can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in only 3.1 seconds and break the 225 mph (362 km/h) barrier when trying to find its top speed.

Inside, the GTR1 comes with a machined aluminum instrument cluster, McIntosh sound system, hand-made leather trimmed seats, dash, door panels and headliner. Other features include bespoke brakes, 20-inch forged aluminum knock-off wheels, Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires and carbon fiber exterior accents. Production is scheduled to commence in early 2014.

"For more than 60 years Galpin has placed the utmost importance on the craftsmanship and performance of each of the cars we build," said Beau Boeckmann, president of Galpin Auto Sports. "I'm incredibly proud to share our interpretation of one of the most iconic automotive designs of the twenty first century."
