Gabe Pruitt of Boston Celtics Charged with DUI

The book with DUI incidents among sportsmen has just been filled with another black page. According to TMZ, Gabe Pruitt, one of the Boston Celtics basketball players, was arrested this morning after was involved in a DUI incident. Cops pulled over the sportsman around 3:15 AM in the Hollywood area and asked him to take a breath test. It seems that the Boston Celtics star failed the field sobriety test as his blood alcohol level considerably exceeded the legal limit.

Quite obviously, he was taken to a local prison and his bail was set for $5,000. Pruitt will be taken to court on suspicion of driving under influence but so far no date has been established.

As far as we know, the 22-year-old basketball player has not been involved in another DUI incident before but in life, there is a start for everything. We just hope that Pruitt won't make a rule out of this kind of incidents and assume this was just an exception.

We don't know what's happening with celebs nowadays. They get boozed up, then they are busted by cops and make a fool out of themselves in front of the whole world. The matter is simple: if you drink, don't drive. There is always the alternative of taking a cab, which is safer for both them and other road users.

Gabriel Michael Pruitt, nicknamed "Smilin' Gabe" because of his toothy smile, was ranked #46 in Rivals Hoops 2004 top 150 players. He is the 4th string point guard behind Rajon Rondo, Eddie House and Sam Cassell. Judging after his basketball record, he is a really talented and skillful player. Man, stay clean and leave the DUI for others...
