G-Power is a tuning house dealing exclusively with the two most famous German premium brands: Mercedes-Benz (AMG models only) and BMW.
This latest upgrade of theirs is targeted at the already potent Mercedes-AMG S63. The super-fast limousine comes with a 5.5-liter turbo V8 engine good for 585 hp and about 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) in its standard form, so tuning it further would mean going nearly Brabus-crazy.
And yet, G-Power did. It's true, they didn't go as far as the Brabus-minimum of 850 hp, but 705 hp isn't something to be trifled with. There is also a 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) bump in maximum torque, but that was clearly unnecessary and just a byproduct of the power increase.
The "Bi-Tronik 5 V1“ power module installed by G-Power gives the AMG S63 its peak power of 705 hp at a reasonable 5,000 rpm, while the 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque are available between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm. The effect of all this big number over the actual performance figures isn't as impressive as you might expect, but that's only because the Mercedes-AMG S63 has very respectable numbers of its own in the first place.
The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint normally takes 4.0 seconds for the standard vehicle (4MATIC version) that also has a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) without the AMG Driver's Package, which would raise it to 280 km/h (174 mph). However, the G-Power treatment pushes the speed limit even further to 330 km/h (205 mph), while the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint is reduced by 0.2 seconds to 3.8 seconds.
The whole thing costs only 6,900 euros ($7,730 at today's rates), but there's a catch to it: the extra 120 hp and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) only come into play when the throttle is pushed to the floor and the engine fluids have reached their optimal temperature.
The car in the images also comes with a set of 21-inches alloy wheels called Hurricane RR that are available in both black and silver. The huge revealing wheels with 265 and 295 tires front and back cost even more than the power upgrade at 9,100 euros ($10,195), but unlike the performance package, you don't have to perform any secret combination for them to "be activated".
