G-Power Tuned BMW E92 M3 Drag Races SLS AMG Roadster

Even though everyone is looking at the new kid on the block right now, the F80 M3, the older E92 M3 is better in a lot of people’s eyes. The most important advantage is also it’s biggest disadvantage: the engine.

The E9x models used the S65 plant that was an atmospheric 4-liter V8 making 420 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. By today’s standards, that’s way too little torque but back in the days of late 2000s it was more than enough.

That plant also makes an exhilarating sound, one that is unmistakable, especially with an Akrapovic exhaust to match. That V8 sound is now gone due to the S55 3-liter inline six plant of the new model. However, you can get better torque out of the S65 plant too.

Using G-Power’s SKII CS kit, your M3 can be taken far further in terms of performance. The tuner will install a new ASA T1 supercharger that takes the power output upwards of 600 HP and around 565 Nm (417 lb-ft) of torque. Of course, other parts are also changed to deal with the new parameters.

With this newfound power, the E92 M3 can now go up against cars that would normally be way out of its league. One clear example is the drag race below, where such a tuner monster goes up against a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster.

That’s a supercar by all means and it uses a 6.3-liter V8 that’s good for 591 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque that helps it reach top speeds neighboring 200 mph (320 km/h) and 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in under 4 seconds. And yet, here’s this older M3 keeping up with it...
