The German tuning company G-POWER has just released an insane tuning package for the BMW X5. The tuning specialists have worked meticulously to finish the Typhoon RS tuning kit for the X5 that boosts the BMW's power to 635 HP, claiming it to be the “world's strongest BMW-SUV”.

The first thing that strikes you when you look at the Typhoon RS is its exterior body kit. The tuner says all of the car's bulging wings and panels are there to create an improved air flow and thus less air resistance. The guys over at G-POWER used a 3D scanner to better develop the X5's aero kit, making sure every aspect of air circulation and engine cooling is covered.

Thanks to its bigger wheel arches that house 23-inch wheels, the G-POWER Thypoon RS X5 is 7 centimeters wider than the normal BMW X5. The aggressive front spoiler displays two large side air vents meant for cooling the engine and the front brakes. The German tuner also says the front spoiler was designed in a way so “the aerodynamic lifting forces at the front axle could be reduced”. For optimal road handling and grip the Thypoon RS is equipped with high-performance 315/25 ZR 23 tires from Michelin.

Moving to the power department of the Typhoon RS, the tuner prepared an outstanding package for the BMW X5 xDrive48i. Fitted with a G-POWER SK III RS supercharger system made in co-operation with ASA, the all-wheel drive X5 offers an increase in power of 270 HP (199 kW). This gives the Typhoon RS an amount of power that better matches its name, namely 625 hp (460 kW) at 6,100 rpm and a peak torque of 700 Nm (516.3 ft-lb) at 5,300 rpm. The supercharger was chosen by the tuners over a turbo system, because of its “perfect throttle response at any time”.

The two-part carbon intake air duct with large, aerodynamic transverse sections, a large-volume aluminum charge air cooling system in the front of the X5 and a G-POWER SPEEDFLOW high-performance exhaust system which is entirely made of stainless steel and includes racing headers, racing catalysts and end mufflers, form the peripheral equipment of the supercharged engine and moreover render an earthy sound which emphasizes the acoustics of the eight-cylinder engine”, said the German tuner.

Performance-wise, this mad kit from G-POWER translates into a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and pushing on to 200 km/h in just 16 seconds. The G-POWER's Typhoon RS achieves a top speed of 285 km/h or 177 mph and, from our point of view, it does back its current statement of being “the world's strongest BMW-SUV”.
