Despite some people rushing to call Lotus a bankrupt company already, the Brits are not going to let things go easily. As a matter of fact, in a recent interview for Auto Motor und Sport, the brand’s CEO, Jean-Marc Gales said that they will be bringing out a new model at the 2015 IAA or Frankfurt Motor Show.
Coming to fill the shoes of the 2-Eleven model, the 3-Eleven will be sporting some impressive specs if we’re to believe the CEO. According to him, we should be prepared to witness the might of a 420 HP V6 engine that will be moving around an estimated weight of around 890 kg (1,962 lbs).

Based exclusively on the Exige, the new Lotus will allegedly be a lot stiffer for a change and will allow drivers to push it even harder to the edge. A top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph) is entirely possible and he even has a time around Nordschelife that should be around 7 minutes 9 seconds.

Only 311 units of the car will be made and, before being launched at Frankfurt, Nurburgring tests will begin so we’ll probably get to see it in camo on the famous Green Hell for the first time. Just like its brother before it, the 3-Eleven will be built as a race car but will be road-legal as well.

Its predecessor was a lot more modest by comparison. Built atop an Elise platform, the 2-eleven had a 4-cylinder engine on board making between 192 and 255 HP, depending on the version you went with. Even so, it was an extremely fun car to drive and here’s to hoping that the 3-Eleven will be close to it in all aspects.
