Nissan’s has chosen to revive the Datsun brand name, in order to stick it onto the back of its cheapest offerings, which will be sold in ‘developing’ markets. They have yet to announce what car they will be selling, or any details about it, but they have announced how much it is going to cost.
The unknown car will make its market debut in 2014, and it will be sold primarily in India, Indonesia and Russia, being priced at $7,695, just under $10,000 and $12,750 respectively, in each specific region. Keep in mind that the new vehicles will probably be mildly-refreshed versions of older Nissan models, which will be given a new lease of life as budget cars.

In a way, Datsun will be Nissan’s Dacia, following the same philosophy of recycling old and proven parts and engines, to make a competent car which doesn’t cost that much to develop, make and ultimately sell.
