According to sources, GT86/FR-S chief engineer Tetsuya Tada has already visited BMW several times in the past year, making it clear that he will be in charge for the upcoming sportscar, and looking at how the Toybota tuned to be, we are expecting the new sportscar to make a hit.

"I am hoping for a synergy effect with BMW that will result in a product that none of us could have imagined; something more than anyone expects. I would like that to be something like a sports car," Tada said in the interview. "I would even go so far as to say that for the collaboration to work we have to bring a product which exceeds all these expectations."

Acing the affordable reliable hybrid family car segment, Toyota turned its interest to thicken up its sportscar lineup with the new BMW joint project that will probably give birth to the future Supra.
