FTC Says Nissan Frontier Commercial is Misleading

We're not completely sure that funny ads help sell cars. After all, I've never head anybody say "I'll pay extra for that VW, they make funny commercials". But they do make our days a little bit better and for that reason we love them.
However, the government watchdogs, ever vigilant of consumers' interests, will not stand for any false claims, even if they happened to be funny. That's just what happened to this next Nissan Frontier commercial, which is about three years old has just been deemed misleading by the Federal Trade Commission.

It's about a sand buggy that's stuck at the top of a dune. An average Nissan pickup sprints to its help and pushes it over the top. It's obviously a joke, created with a little bit of computer magic, and it's even got a short disclaimer, but the FTC doesn't like it. In fact Nissan has even had to agree to refrain from making any such commercial in the future.

Shame on you Nissan for doing what everybody else does. Because the Chevy Sonic commercial below is totally not fake and demonstrates things you can actually do with a car. Until the 24th of February, you guys can voice your opinion on the FTC's website about the ad. We know we will.
