Remember we showed you a prototype of the new M4 Convertible dressed in Frozen Red a while back? It was almost undisguised and it quickly caught our attention. Well, it’s back.
We can’t be positively sure, as we couldn’t see the plates on the earlier prototype but since this one has the same paint on it and the same Carbon Ceramic Brakes, we can’t be too far off, now can we?
The only difference we spotted, actually (excepting the complete lack of camouflage) are the wheels that now turned black and we are more than delighted about this change.
With its world premiere happening as we speak in New York, the M4 Convertible is bound to quickly storm the market and break sale figures. Or is it?
Well, it sure has the performance to brag but the price tag might be a little steep, even though it starts just above $73,000 in the US. Compared to its premium rivals, it has absolutely no competition, trampling over both the RS5 and the Porsche offerings.
Looking over other alternatives, things aren’t that obvious. In the US, the M4 Convertible will also be facing the Corvette and 370Z, two completely different cars that might also appeal to the drop top enthusiast.
While the Corvette will set you back around $60,000, the latest reviews making it out to be quite the performance bargain, the 370Z rides on an old platform and comes with a much smaller price tag. These two could be problematic for the new M4. However, until we get to drive them back to back, we can’t really say which is better.
