From Two to Four: Nicky Hayden Drives the Mercedes DTM Car

The partnership between AMG and Ducati is gaining more and more visibility ever since its official announcement at the LA Auto show late last year. One of the ambassadors of the Ducati-AMG alliance is none other than the 2006 MotoGP World Champion, Nicky Hayden, who is already making the most of it.

Not only did The Kentucky Kid take delivery of a limited-series CLS 63 AMG "Edition One" model for his personal use, but a couple of months later, Hayden went on to feel the taste of a DTM race car, a video of which can be watched below this article.

On the fourth race weekend of the series, held at the Lausitzring, Nicki Hayden paid a visit to the Mercedes DTM team and drove a Mercedes C-Klasse AMG DTM, having none other than David Coulthard as driving instructor, who also happens to be the new AMG brand ambassador. We were rather disappointed to see Hayden unable to master the car, so we prefered to blame it on Coulthar's poor teaching skills...

As for the car, the 480 hp C-Klasse AMG is capable of reaching a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), and sprint from naught to sixty in just 4 seconds.

“Honestly, I've never gotten a chance to see DTM on TV in America, so I'm curious to see what I'm in for,”
stated the 29-year old rider before his visit. “Although the race falls on what was going to be an off weekend between two sets of hard back-to-back races, I'm still looking forward to checking out another form of racing, meeting the drivers, seeing the technology, and even getting to ride in one of the cars.“
