So, Christmas 2020 is here. It’s been a hell of a ride getting to this point, but finally, after almost 12 months of hardship, there seems to be light ahead.
The world is in the middle of a pandemic, something our generation (and a couple more before us) never experienced. We’re getting our bearings, we learn and adapt, and we will eventually overcome. In the meantime, life goes on - not exactly like before, but close enough.
The end of 2020 is something we’ve all been waiting for, as if the arrival of Christmas and the New Year would somehow erase all the bad things of the previous months. But hey, isn’t that what happens every year? Doesn’t Santa always come, taking his sleigh up and down the planet, carefully tracked by NORAD this whole time?
Given how 2020 has been an atypical year, let’s imagine for a bit Santa is no longer using his traditional, reindeer-powered sleigh, but one whose design was inspired by modern-day cars.
Thanks to the artists over at Bristol Street Motors, we now have an idea how an automobile-inspired sleigh would look like (check the attached gallery for a closer look). In fact, not one idea, but five, as we have cars made by MINI, Volkswagen, Tesla, Nissan, and Land Rover represented this way.
Technically speaking, these brands couldn’t be more different, but theoretically, as pictured here, they all have several things in common: the lack of a roof (because Santa always goes open top), just two seats (no idea why, as he always travels solo), and of course no wheels (because who needs them?).
It’s not for us to decide whether these drawings nail the sleigh look or not, but for reference, we included in the gallery a photo of Santa’s ride as NORAD sees it, and of the man himself (is he?), wearing a mask, of course.
