If you happen to belong to the BMW fan base, or simply enjoy sprinting brawls, we've got just the thing for you. We're talking about a velocity gathering that brought together no less than four of the Bavarian automaker's spiciest offerings, namely three M cars and an M Performance machine.

The list of go-fast animals that engages in the drag races delivered by the event involves the M2, the M3, the now-retired F10 generation of the M5, as well as the M235i.

The Bimmers went for a rolling start, kicking things off at 50 km/h (31 mph), while engaging in one-kilometer (0.62-mile) races. The clip documenting the adventure also delivers the finish line numbers for each car, so you'll be able to get a good idea of how the German heroes performed.

As much as we enjoy checking out such an M car-loaded piece of footage, we have to admit that there are plenty of reasons to lust for a more... update velocity gathering of the sort.

First and foremost, the M machine everybody wants to see in action these days is the 2018 M5. With its 600 hp mill, which is an evolution of the replaced model's 4.0-liter V8, its all-wheel-drive and its torque converter automatic tranny, the newcomer provides plenty of hardware details that require a real-world demonstration.

Secondly, there's the M2, which is on its way to receiving an even hotter CS (Club Sport) version. We should get to meet the revamped compact M Division animal by the second quarter of next year.

As for the M235i, this has already been replaced by the M240i, which, as we've discussed on previous occasions, can get dangerously close to the M2 in terms of straight-line might. Nevertheless, one shouldn't make the mistake of believing the M Performance model can work as a substitute for the M2, since, for instance, the handling differences between the two are noticeable. To be more precise, while the M2 brings back the spirit of the golden era go-fast compact Bimmers, the M240i doesn't pack the same level of sharpness when it comes to the twisty bits.
