French Minister Breaks Speed Limit with Renault ZOE EV

While the current crop of road-going EVs may not be the quickest thing on Earth (this probably is, though), but they are still quick enough to get you into trouble, in town at least, with the instant torque delivery, most EVs, even the most basic ones can easily break the speed limit, in town.

Most recently, a French Minister, Arnaud Monteburg took an all-electric Renault ZOE all the way to 66 km/h, in town, where the accepted speed limit is 50 km/h. The law-braking act took place during a brief test Mr. Monteburg carried out, in order to boost the appeal of Renault’s upcoming all-electric city runabout.

The authorities let this one slide, but it just goes to show how quick these little EVs are, and the ZOE, with its 88 hp and 220 Nm of torque, it is quite a brisk motor, indeed.
