The French track at Mangy Cours has reportedly applied for inclusion in the 2013 F1 calendar. According to the French press, the application was handed in to the FFSA (Fédération Française du Sport Automobile). Also, the position for ‘The French Grand Prix' may be challenged by another, more modern track from the country, Paul Ricard.
Officials from the latter will also be applying for a place in the 2013 calendar, next week. However, we will not know the exact details, until the FIA publishes the first draft of the upcoming F1 season, in early October. Apparently, the only obstacle standing between France and a place in the calendar is Bernie Ecclestone, who needs to “be convinced”, despite the fact that the President of the FFSA, Nicolas Deschaux was quoted as saying that "the commercial rights holder does not hear arguments of the heart."
We will wait and see, and hopefully, before October, we will have some clear answers on the matter.
