He is 54 but has been busy breaking his own speed records one after the other for decades. French sportsman Eric Barone has just broken another crazy speed boundary the other day, as he rode down a snowy mountain in Vars, France, in the French Alps on a bicycle. The record: 223.30 km/h (138.75 miles per hour).
What are you planning to do when you reach 50? Go on a long-awaited cruise with your wife? Buy that Hellcat you’ve been saving for years? Quit your job and buy a farm? Well, whatever it is we’re more than certain your bucket list is far from being close to Barone’s. Sure, this man has been doing this type of stunts for most of his life, but still.

After some initial jobs, including acting as stunt double of renown actors like Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Adrian Paul, at 34 he started breaking speed records on a bicycle. His first was on snow back in 1994, a record he then broke again five years later. During his career, Barone has descended the slopes of Mount Fuji in Japan, Mauna Kea and Kilauea in Hawaii, and many other similar tracks around the world.

So now we know who exactly we’re facing here. Sure, having so much experience doesn’t mean he didn’t have to prepare this stunt carefully. In fact, according to the video description, Barone and his team worked for about three years to make sure every little detail was well prepared before they reached that cliff.

Despite the difficult weather conditions at the summit, Eric managed to break his previous record of reaching 222.22 km/h (138.08 mph) at the Arcs in 2000.
