Land Rover has launched the Freelander 2 SD4 Sport, a limited edition model which features a number of key exterior and interior additions. The refreshed SUV offers a sportier more “overt” image than the standard model.

Available in three distinct body colors (Fuji White, Santorini black and Firenze Red), the vehicle also offers two striking interior themes with contrasting colors: ebony and ivory or ebony and pimento. The list of exterior changes include a sophisticated black finish to the grille and the side vents and a new body styling pack which offers cleaner profiling to the front corners.

At the rear of the SD4 Sport a new spoiler has been added to enhance the look of the car. The Freelander sits on 19 inch Shadow Chrome alloy wheels. Body colored door handles and mirror caps, and privacy glass further emphasize the dynamic look of this premium limited edition. Front and rear parking sensors will be available as standard on this high-end model Land Rover.

The contrasting interior consists of Ebony Windsor leather with contrast Pimento stitch or Ebony Napoli leather with matching contrast Windsor leather highlight stripe on the seats. Piano Black trimming and Ebony carpet mats finish off the classy interior.

Under the bonnet, the Land Rover Freelander 2 SD4 Sport Limited Edition will feature the company's new 190 PS (187.4 hp or 139.75 Kw) diesel engine which comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, helping the car to reach 60 mph (96.56 km/h) in just 8.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 118 mph (189 km/h).

“The Freelander 2 SD4 Sport Limited Edition offers customers the practicality, performance and efficiency of our best-selling compact SUV with more dramatic, sporty styling and the overall package represents good value for money,” said Colin Green, managing director of Land Rover UK, in the press release announcing the limited edition model.

Only 500 will be available for purchase, starting from early 2011, with prices starting at £33,945 ($52.983).
