Frazer-Nash Namir by Giugiaro on Display at Geneva

Often referred to as the fastest and the most ecological hybrid in the world, the Frazer-Nash Namir concept designed by Giugiaro is now on display at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The Arabian name of the car - Namir - comes from "tiger" and perfectly matches the main features of the car, as it is mentioned in a press statement issued by Italdesign: "elegance and power, aggressiveness and litheness of lines."

The two-seater coupe has quite astonishing performances: 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and 0-200km/h in 10.4 seconds. This makes the vehicle the fastest hybrid car in the world, the manufacturers claim in the same press statement. The maximum speed is rated at 300 km/h (187 mph).

And beside all these impressive figures, Namir is also an ecological vehicle. The powertrain is based on an 814 cc endothermic rotary engine with four electric motors, with an overall range of 39 km with a single liter of fuel. CO2 emissions achieve less than 60 grams per kilometer, according to figures provided by Italdesign.

"The encounter with Frazer-Nash dates back to about a year ago” explains Fabrizio Giugiaro, Vice President and Styling Director of Italdesign Giugiaro, "and it was a pleasure to meet with a name that has made automobile history. It certainly was an interesting and profitable collaboration that resulted in a unique vehicle with very exciting performance levels in terms of speed and pick-up, above all in terms of low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions."

More details and the first teaser showing the concept are available here.
