The powerplant in the Kangoo ZE Concept is able to output 226 Nm of torque, while minimizing energy consumption. The easy loading into the vehicle is done thanks to the hatch-type rear door and wide, folding sill.
Measuring just 3.95m in length and 1.85m in height, the Kangoo ZE uses heat-reflective paint and a bodywork featuring large surface areas to reduce temperature fluctuations. The conventional exterior mirrors have been replaced by low-energy cameras that provide improved visibility when manoeuvring.
The Man Machine Interfaces (MMI) inside the car have been designed to provide information concerning the location of the nearest car park or charge station, with information communicated to the driver via a cell phone which slots into the dashboard.
The dashboard is divided in two distinct functional units:
- a new-format minimalist display providing data specifically relating to the electric motor.
- a remotely-positioned control between the seats incorporating a touchpad to facilitate the keying in of data.
The driver has two options when recharging:
- A standard charge: takes between four and eight hours, via a charging socket situated on the outside of the vehicle,
- A quick charge: in 20 minutes, using the same socket at bespoke charge stations.
