Frankfurt Auto Show: Wiesmann MF5

German manufacturer Wiesmann is showcasing its latest contraption at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show these days, namely the Roadster MF5. With a price tag set at 189,500 euros, the MF5 will be built in a limited run of only 55 units, so the purist interior will only be enjoyed by few.

“The exterior promises amazing things: the emotional shaping shows at the first glance an unparalleled character of driving experience that is additionally supported by the puristic equipment,”
the company said in a statement. “Anything but puristic is the rear wing. From 120 km/h it runs automatically, and therefore bestowed - in cooperation with the perfectly tuned suspension - even at top speeds a driving experience that one can hardly put in words.”

The body of the MF5 is made of high-quality, glass fiber reinforced composite material, and features electrically operated rear wing, enlarged air intakes, green tinted windows, laminated windscreen, side windows made of safety glass, free choice of external paint finishes and, of course, a soft-top.

As for the technical details, the MF5 features a front-mounted V10 mid-engine with three-way catalytic converter, petrol injection, stainless steel twin exhaust pipes. The powerplant, mated to a 7-speed sequential manual gearbox (SMG), develops 507 hp and 520 Nm of torque. All this allows the car to sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and further accelerate to a top speed of 310 km/h (193 mph).

Wiesmann MF5 safety features:
  • Integrated side impact protection
  • ABS (Antiblock Braking System)
  • DSC (Dynamic Stability Control)
  • Height and reach-adjustable safety steering column
  • BMW security system including recognized electronic immobilizer (EWS lll)
  • Three-point seat belts
  • Hydraulic power steering
  • Dual stage driver and passenger airbag
