Across all of these new cars, you'll now get to benefit from three new engines: the 306 HP turbocharged T6, 245 HP turbocharged T5 and the D4 turbo diesel with 181 HP. The last two will also be available on the new Volvo XC70, S80 and V70.

To make the cars even more efficient, they will also receive new 8-Speed automatic gearboxes from Aisin alongside a new, enhanced 6-speed manual for even better fuel economy.

Another interesting car at the Volvo stand was the V60 plug-in hybrid, a car that uses the company's four-cylinder Drive-E engine family and an electric unit. The most important thing about it though, is the fact that it's the world's first diesel hybrid.

It uses a D6 diesel engine that makes 215 HP and an electric motor that develops 70 HP while on the torque side, the conventional engine has 440 Nm and the electric one 200 Nm, making for a total of 640 Nm of torque.

“Our successful V60 Plug-in Hybrid has already proved that the most efficient car can be one of the most fun to drive, and the pleasure is guilt free. And today we can confirm that the new XC90 also will come a plug-in hybrid at the top of the range,” said Lex Kerssemakers Senior Vice President, Product Strategy and Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Car Group.

Furthermore, next to the new engines, the V60-series will also receive new infotainment and safety features like the refreshed Sensus Connect system, Lane Keeping Aid and the Park Assist Pilot (also available for the S60).
