Almost 4 years after the launch of the first model in the Hyundai ix35 family was released, the South Korean company decided to give it a mild facelift to cope with the ever changing SUV market.
The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show is currently the home of this updated model, all dressed up to the nines in white paint. Design-wise, the refreshed model gained LED strips inside the headlights, a reshaped front grille and new alloys.

The most interesting fact about the upgrade though, is the new 2-liter GDI petrol engine, dubbed 'Nu'. This one is supposed to deliver more power than the current 'Theta-II' unit that has 163 HP, whilst also improving fuel efficiency.

Talking exact numbers, the 'Nu' engine has 166 HP and 205 Nm of torque and is Euro5 compliant (thus emitting less CO2). Furthermore, diesel engines from the 'R' range are now fitted with a system called LP-EGR (low pressure exhaust gas recirculation) that makes the cars more eco-friendly, reducing emissions.

According to the South Korean company, the new cars should have a quicker steering system, softer front suspension and three driving modes: Normal, Comfort and Sport, similar to what premium european brands are offering.

On the inside, you can now get a navigation screen that measures up to 7 inches, a new audio system, along with 'higher-quality materials', whilst the headlamps can now be fitted with bi-xenon lights.
