As much as people complain about how the Rapid uses dated technology from the VW Polo and the Golf V, the liftback sedan has been a huge sales success story.

This has prompted the Czech carmaker to reveal yet another version of Rapid which the dubbed the Spaceback. This hatchback loses 180mm of its length and 135 liters of boot space to become a bit more compact.

Officially revealed in July, the Rapid Spaceback is already in production and now we get out chance to see it from up close thanks to the Frankfurt Motor Show.

“The Rapid Spaceback is a great addition to this class in that it combines Skoda's good practical characteristics with the popular hatchback shape. Sporting the new Skoda design, the Rapid Spaceback has a fresh, dynamic and individual appearance. It is a compact car with a sporty chic, spacious and practical, ideal for young people and families,” said the company's CEO Winfried Vahland.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves!

At the IAA 2013, Skoda brought over two Rapid Spacebacks, to show the customization options. One has a sexy red color with tinted glass and headlights and piano black trim. This looks a bit like the Monte Carlo version of the Fabia but is actually a new trim level called the "StylePLUS". The other is simpler, like the "Fresh" trim level.
