The Opel Monza Concept may be the star of the carmaker’s Frankfurt booth, but the car that’s making true efforts for the sake of sales is the Insignia facelift.
Design wise, the front fascia has received a fresh image, albeit one that seems a bit diluted. There are now headlights with boomerang LED daytime running lights. We can say the same about the taillights, while the rear apron has also been revised. These modifications were brought to all body types, including the sedan, five-door and Sports Tourer.
Climbing aboard, we find an 8-inch touchscreen display and fresh controls for the various functions of the car, as well as a few other small touches.
The engine departments sees the Insignia using the new 1.6 SIDI turbo downsized unit that delivers 170 HP (125 kW) and a peak torque of 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) or 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) with overboost.
Those in search for a bit of performance can opt ofr the fresh 2.0 SIDI Turbo powerplant, which delivers 250 HP.
Speaking of modern engines, the Insignia’s range-topping diesel is a 2/0-liter BiTurbo CDTI unit. This allows the driver to use 195 HP and a peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).
