Nissan has brought a new generation of the X-Trail / Rogue SUV to this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, with the vehicle scheduled to hit the market early next year.
The styling of the 2014 Nissan X-Trail / Rogue shows a bit of an upmarket move, with the vehicle using more refined styling cues, as well as optional all-LED headlights.

Practicality was also taken into consideration, with the rear doors almost reaching an 80-degree opening angle - we’ll remind you that we are talking about a seven-seater here.

Underneath the car we find Nissan’s new ALL MODE 4x4i system, but the true innovations come in the "features" field. We’ll start with the Active Ride Control, which “monitors the road surface to detect undulations which could potentially upset the pitch of the car body and alters the damping to compensate”. Nissan didn’t release any more details of the system, but their collaboration with Mercedes may have brought them this system, which seems to follow the steps of the Magic Body Control fitted to the 2014 S-Class. The carmaker was also shy when it came to talking about the engine line-up.

In addition, the 2014 Nissan X-Trail / Rogue comes with Active Engine Brake, which “harnesses the power and controlability of the Xtronic transmission to add a degree of engine braking while cornering or when decelerating to a standstill.” Nissan explains that this allows the driver to use the brakes less and offers a better feeling of control over the vehicle.
