"I'm sorry honey, I can't drive you home. That backroad where you live is muddy and I love my Jaaaaag too much!" That's excuse isn't going to work for long, because the Brits are working on a crossover all their own, and jokes aside, they really need it.
Making its debut in Frankfurt as the C-X17 Concept, the first ever Jaguar crossover is a long way from reaching production. In fact, they din't even mention if they're going to make it, though the new aluminum platform they developed here is a dead giveaway.

What's striking about the C-X17 is just how good it look. The headlights look like they were stolen from the XJ, the grille from the XF and the taillight from the F-Type. Yet it all ties in nicely together into a modern package. The crispness of the blue paint and the amazing design of the interior must have something to do with it.

As a concept, the SUV is ,718mm (185.7 inches) long, 1,649mm (64.9 inches) tall and 1,959mm (77.1 inches) wide, riding on a 2,905mm (114.4 inches) wheelbase. Ground clearance is about 20 centimeters, so not really a Land Rover in this department.

I find the excellent design means the public is responding positively. By contrast, when Bentley showed the EXP 9 F concept reviews barely stopped short of booing them.
