Ferrari chose Frankfurt to give the world its new interpretation of how a 458 should be like and thus we’re inviting you to see the 458 Speciale.
The 458’s 4.5-liter V8 was pushed to 605 hp at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm (lb-ft) at 6,000 rpm. With its 135 hp per liter the unit now holds the record for the highest specific power output for naturally-aspirated road-going powerplant. In addition, the torque curve was optimised across its entire length.
The standard 458 is a bit too tail-happy at times, despite the brilliant E-Diff 3 rear differential and F1-Trac stability control. This is why the Speciale introduces the Side Slip Angle Control (SSC). We’re basically talking about new software that optimizes the torque delivery process. We have to admit that we just can’t wait to see the system at work.
