Volkswagen might not limit the Up name to just the production version of the citycar, as a whole family of exciting new concepts was unveiled in Frankfurt. One of the most interesting in our opinion is the GT up!
Though some people might not like it at first, we do and we also think it will go into production. You see, VW used to have something called the Lupo GTI in its range back in the day. It had a snappy gearbox, a 1.6-liter four-banger and was a lot of fun.
The production Up has engines that produce up to 75 horsepower, but this needs a bit more. “Conceivably, its engine could have a power of 100 PS. Such an engine would offer drivers of the barely 900 kg GT up!” the Germans say.
Basically, we’re likely to get a tickled 1.4-liter, six-speed gearboxes, a set of alloys, spoilers, splitters and tartan seats as standard and a price that should be shy of €10,000.
