The cars use an all-new supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine that is developed and hand-assembled locally and allows them to outperform the previous range-topping 5.4 liter GT models. The V8 powerplant has an aluminum design with double overhead cams and 32 valves and is EuroIV compliant. The unit, which is the company’s first-ever supercharged engine, delivers 428 hp and a maximum torque of 545 Nm.
The powerplant is mated to a manual gearbox, but an automatic transmission is offered as a no-cost option.
The new models borrow certain features from their predecessors, such as GS side graphics and five-spoke alloy rims, which now come with a silver finish. The vehicles add bonnet stripes and Boss 315 identification, a steering wheel FPV logo and others.
The sedan is offered with a choice of eleven exterior colors, while the Ute gets 10, with three contrasting stripe color options and three interior trim colors. The new FPV GS sedan has a starting price of AU$56,900, while the Ute starts at AU$51,990.
“Perhaps the most exciting thing about our new GS is that while it matches the output of our previous Boss 5.4 litre V8, it actually smoothly out performs it in every way,” said FPV General Manager Rod Barrett. “It’s faster and it’s more fuel efficient, but perhaps most importantly, the supercharged configuration provides a tremendous ‘drive’ … this is a fun car, and we think it’s going to be enormously successful for us.”
