Ever heard the name, Stirling Moss? Are you sure about what it stands for? Don’t get us wrong, we’re sure a lot of people know about the man but the car is becoming so famous that some will forget all about what gave it its name.

Back in 2009, Mercedes-Benz was making a rather shocking announcement. They were revealing the new SLR McLaren Stirling Moss model, and that was impressive enough. However, the ‘shocking’ part came when they said how many would be built: 75.

That makes the Stirling Moss SLR one of the rarest cars on the planet, and it does have a matching price tag. It’s not that it’s not worth all that money but things can easily get out of hand in these regions.

Incipiently, the cars were priced at €750,000, and after they had been all sold, that price went up to twice as much in the time it would take you to say Rumpelstiltskin.

Therefore, since only 75 were ever made, you’d understand our surprise when our spy photographers sent in the following photos. In it you can see no less than four Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss models that account for roughly five percent of the worldwide ‘stock’. On top of that, they are joined by another rare Merc, the McLaren Roadster 722 S.

Even though the five of them look somewhat different, they share the same engine under the bonnet, a 5.4-liter V8 with plenty of forced induction. Both of them have 650 HP and 800 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque, the differences being made by the way they put the power down and how they look.

Truth be told, the value of what we’re looking at might as well be impossible to discern. Can you put a price on these legendary cars?
