Today technology seems to advance at an alarming rate. Therefore, the usual 7-year life span of a BMW model seems a bit far stretched. Just look at the current 7 Series and how far behind it seems compared to its Audi and Mercedes rivals and you’ll understand what we mean.
To address these issues, manufacturers like BMW put together the so-called ‘facelifts’ that are meant to keep a model interesting for another couple of years. Usually, the Germans release this update around 4 years into the making.

One of the models that received such a treatment back in 2013 was the current F10 5 Series. With it came a slightly refreshed front end and some new engines.

The thing is, the original N63 plant used for the 550i models wasn’t up to par in terms of reliability. They seemed to be pretty faulty and started failing on a regular basis, plenty of them being repaired within warranty. We even wrote a story about it.

The updated model has not only more power but also seems to be more reliable. The 4.4-liter V8 twin turbo mill was taken from 400 HP to 450 HP and the torque number was also increased but by a smaller amount.

However, we’re not here to talk about facelifts but rather about a car put together by the guys from Fostla. By now you probably guessed that it’s a pre-LCI model which means it had the 400 HP plant under the bonnet originally.

Thanks to some TLC from PP-Performance, however, it now has 570 HP and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque available, more than even the M5 itself. Those numbers were achieved thanks to a €4,300 ($5,250) kit that includes a new ECU map and exhaust system to take care of those extra fumes caused by the petrol burning.

On the outside, the M Sport package is clearly visible along with a new wrap in Taupe Matte Metallic, tinted headlights and other small details here and there.

The wheels resemble those available for the Competition Package but they actually come from Yido Performance and measure 20 inches in diameter and sit under lowering H&R springs that take the ride height down by 35 mm.

While you might get all of this yourself, the guys from Fostla are asking €15,500 ($19,000) to take care of everything and transform your car themselves. To us it looks like a pretty steep price but if you don’t have time to do it yourself, it might be a bargain.
