Along with the all-new Ford GT supercar unveil at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, something else happened. Turn 10 Studios announced they’re working on the Forza Motorsport 6 Xbox racing game, which will feature the new GT.
It appears that Ford and Microsoft have signed an exclusive agreement to make the Ford GT the Forza Motorsport 6 cover car. This gave Turn 10 Studios direct access to Ford’s design team as the new supercar was in development.

“Just as Ford has pushed the boundaries of car technology in GT, Forza Motorsport 6 will embrace that spirit of innovation as our most technically advanced racing simulation to date, offering a fun and realistic automotive experience for both car lovers and gamers,” said Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10 Studios. “We’re excited to unveil gameplay at E3 in June.”

As you can tell, there’s nothing else to say about the new Forza Motorsport 6 at the moment apart from the fact it will feature the Ford GT, Mustang GT350 as well as the Ford F-150 Raptor and that we’ll see some gameplay footage in June this year.

Retro inspired modern take of a legend

Regarding the all-new Ford GT however, we can tell you it should be entering production next year, powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine pushing over 600 hp to the real wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle gearbox. No doubt it is a beast, a good looking one, too...

Aesthetically, the new supercar is somewhat inspired by the Ford GT90 concept from 1995. However, those old sharp angles are a lot more toned down here - the headlights follow the old ones’ contour, coming with LED technology, the taillights are round, the triangular exhaust is replaced by two big central pipes and every other surface is rounded for improved aerodynamics.

Although it looks almost production ready, the all-new Ford GT has been introduced to the public as a concept car, so be prepared for at least some minor changes on the production version in 2016.
