Formula E Moves to London This Weekend for its Final Act at Battersea Park

Formula E might not be the most spectacular motorsport competition available to petrolheads, but it's still a new thing people need to do some adapting to.

The first ever season of the FIA Formula E Championship will drop its curtains this weekend in London, after two years of green, silent but not yawn-triggering racing.

Those interested in the competition know that at this point, six drivers hold a chance of securing the title in London, something you don't really see in Formula 1, for example.

Nelson Piquet Jr. from Nextev TCR Formula E team holds the advantage, followed by Lucas di Grassi from Audi Sport ABT, but the likes of Sébastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost - third and fourth in the championship standings - still have good chance of ending the season in the number one spot.

The track hosting Formula E's final act is placed in the heart of Battersea Park. Designed by architect Simon Gibbons, the circuit covers 2,922 metres and will be driven in an anti-clockwise direction.

Drivers will be greeted by a technical mix of fast straights, high-speed corners and challenging chicanes and braking points. It's also going to be a difficult circuit to tame because organizers haven't been able to resurface the track for the most part.

“We have worked over many months to ensure that all the drivers and teams are treated equally, and that will be the case again this weekend. We have helped to establish a good competitive environment for fair and exciting racing throughout the season and we’re looking forward to living this finale on this truly motorsport ground,” commented Jean-Pascal Dauce, Director of Motorsport, Renault Sport Technologies.
