Formula E’s new all-electric race car made its first ever public demonstration in Las Vegas. The Spark-Renault SRT_01E single-seater was showcased by former Formula One driver Lucas di Grassi.
The Brazilian entertained the crowd with a high-speed display around the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino after driving the car along the famous Las Vegas Strip under police escort. After the event, the electric racer was displayed on Qualcomm’s stand at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.

"Today is a very special landmark for the FIA Formula E Championship and I'm delighted to be sharing it with Qualcomm and all our partners," said Alejandro Agag, CEO of series promoter Formula E Holdings. "Since the FIA launched Formula E just over a year ago, the progress and interest in the series has been overwhelming. When we started we had no cities, no teams, no broadcasters and no car. Now we have all these things so to be able to showcase our new car to everyone involved, and of course the fans, is a very proud moment.”

The inaugural Formula E season will commence on September 2014 and will end on June 2015, after ten events held in China, Malaysia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, the United States, Monaco, Germany and the United Kingdom. Ten teams will compete in the new series - Venturi Grand Prix, Virgin Racing, Drayson Racing, e.dams, ABT Sportsline, Andretti Autosport, Dragon Racing, China Racing, Super Aguri and Mahindra.
