The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is slowly beginning to represent for the global auto makers a very bright future as far as sales numbers are concerned. This is why more and more of them are paying an increased attention to the auto shows in the region, and some even choose local events to launch new vehicles.
Ford will be attending the Bangkok International Motor Show with its latest and some of the most successful models in the lineup. However, the stars of the event will be the new Ranger, revealed to the world late last year, and the highly successful Fiesta model, a car already recognized as a big seller around the world.
The Ranger is of particular importance for the region, as the American car maker will be building it in Thailand. This is why the Wildtrack version of the model will also be introduced.
Aimed at non-American customers, this version of the Ranger will be offered later this year with a choice of two common-rail Ford Duratorq TDCi diesel engines, a 2.2l four-cylinder and a new 3.2l five-cylinder unit. An additional 2.5l Ford Duratec four-cylinder petrol is also on the table.
"We’re leveraging this year’s Bangkok Motor Show as an international stage for the ASEAN reveal of the all-new Ford Ranger global pickup, which will be built right here in Thailand,” said Peter Fleet, president, Ford ASEAN.
"We’ve taken the opportunity to create a world-class display on the Ford stand so that Show attendees can experience and truly understand our commitment to Thailand and the ASEAN region.”
In addition to the models mentioned above, Ford will be presenting in Bangkok the Focus 2.0L Duratec Ghia+ and Sport+ models, an upgraded Ford Escape XLT+ and a Ford Everest 4X2 Limited Navi.
