For the fifth month of 2012, Ford Motor Company delivered no less than 216,267 vehicles in May, a 13 percent increase versus year-ago levels. Overall, cars sales were less than impressive, up just 6 percent, but trucks improved a massive 21 percent.

Deliveries of the F-Series trucks amounted to 54,836 pickups. Of the car models, the Fusion saw a 9 percent increase, while demand for the Focus was 11 percent up. Mustang and Taurus increased 58 and 9 percent, respectively, with the rollout of new 2013 model products leading the way.

“Ford posted solid gains across our fresh lineup of new cars, utilities and trucks in May,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Fuel efficiency continues to be a top purchaser driver, and Ford’s wide range of fuel-efficient products delivered again.”
