Ford Motor Company today announced US sales up 13% to 197,249 in August across the US. This was largely driven by the retail segment, which grew 19%.
Ford Escape compact crossover sales reached 28,188, a 37 percent increase from a year ago, while sales of the Fusion were up by 21% to 21,690 units. Both result were new best-ever figures for the month of August.

The F-Series range continued to be the backbone with 58,201 pickups sold. While the Focus is now the best-selling car in the world, in America, it only represented about a tenth of overall figures. Focus sales increase 35 percent with 19,073 vehicles sold.

“As fuel prices rose again during August, we saw growing numbers of people gravitate toward our fuel-efficient vehicles – cars, utilities and trucks,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Customers increasingly value savings at the pump, and Ford is answering the call with a full family of vehicles with leading fuel efficiency and the power to choose which vehicle best meets their needs.”

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
