Ford Unveils New Tourneo Connect, to Be Sold in US

Two days ago, we showed you spyshots of what we said was the 2014 Ford Tourneo Connect or Transit Connect, the Blue Oval’s replacement for the current compact workhorse.
We believed that since that was the first sighting of the vehicle, it would be some time until it was revealed. But Ford just couldn’t keep a secret and today it’s unveiled the new Tourneo Connect at an event in Amsterdam.

This people mover will make sold in the US as the Transit Connect Wagon. Engine options are not yet know, but they should include a 1.6-liter diesel in Europe. The US market version will most likely come with a 2.0-liter Duratec engine, though a detuned 1.6 EcoBoost or a 1.0 EcoBoost might be possible.

The Tourneo Connect will be offered in both five-seater configuration and for the first time as a seven-seat called the Grand Tourneo Connect.

Sales will start next year, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the full pricing and engine details.

“Ford’s Tourneo line-up is undergoing a radical transformation, led by the stylish new Tourneo Connect and with more exciting product to come,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president Product Development, Ford of Europe.

“These are good-looking, versatile and well-equipped vehicles that families, professional drivers and those looking for space to stow bikes, and even fishing equipment, will choose for their practical virtues and enjoy for their do-it-all spirit and attractive design.”
