Ford Performance has launched the Mountune kit for the Focus RS in the UK, and it is impressive.
Without affecting factory warranty, Ford Focus RS owners can get a performance bump to 375 HP, while peak torque is increased to 510 Nm (376 lb-ft). With the new package, the Ford Focus RS can match the Porsche 911 Carrera’s acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), performing the sprint in just 4.5 seconds for half the price.
In other words, the Mountune tuning kit raises maximum output by 25 HP, while torque is increased by 40 Nm (29 lb-ft). The peak value of 510 Nm is attained only when using overboost, which means that the values specified are only available for a maximum of 12 seconds, but we still think it is a great deal for 899 pounds.
Ford has already received over 4,600 orders in the United Kingdom for the Focus RS, so the Blue Oval has a broad customer base for this potential upgrade.
While shaving 0.2 seconds off the standard 0-100 km/h acceleration time, the tuning package has not improved the top speed of the Ford Focus RS, which remains at 165 mph. More than enough to boast about in the pub and never attempt on public roads in Great Britain.
