Ford has added a new feature in the 2017 F-Series Super Duty pickup truck.
After unveiling the 2017 F-Series Super Duty line of pickup trucks, Ford has kept a few surprises up its sleeves. In the case of this model, Ford has brought back the four-barrel, but not in the form of a carburetor.
Instead, Ford lets customers have four cupholders in the center console of their pickup trucks, without eliminating the storage space usually available in the spot. The feature is designed for hard-working truck owners that need to be fueled through the day with their favorite caffeinated beverages.
Thanks to the patented design, which means that other automakers will not be able to use, Ford’s 2017 F-Series Super Duty pickup could have as many as 10 cupholders inside. The secret lies in the transformable dual cupholder, as Ford calls the solution.
The Blue Oval says it created this combination cupholder as a response to customer needs, and that it has arrived after an extensive global research on the matter. It works by an upper panel with a distinctive shape, which can slide from its position and sit above a storage bin.
To double the number of cupholders between the seats, Ford clients have to push the panel described above (you can see it in the photo gallery). Sure, once you slide it from the left to the right, the storage bin underneath becomes unavailable, but your things can still be placed in the glovebox, door pockets, or in the dedicated space found in the armrest.
Since Ford’s F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks are not always driven by hard-working customers going from one construction site to the next, clients will be able to make a run to the local Starbucks and get their fix of caffeinated beverages.
Considering the fact that a Venti has as much as 24 fl oz (710 mL), one individual could hold as much as 96 fl oz (2.8 liters) of beverages between the seats. Now that is what we call groundbreaking.
