Ford Turns to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for Their New Service Ad Campaign

After all the "aluminum versus steel" debacle initiated by Chevrolet, Ford had to be very careful when choosing its star for the next ad campaign.
Since Iron Man is pretty much sold to Audi, they turned to the next best thing: The Rock. After all, we all know what happens to the steel scissor when it meets the rock, and we don't know of any car made out of paper, so Ford chose wisely.

The advertising campaign will begin airing on the 12th of October and is going to promote its dealerships’ service departments using a kind of superhero theme.

From what we can gather, the ads are going to feature a team of technicians called "The Specialists at Ford" lead by the former wrestling star. This video campaign, however, isn't all we'll see of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a Ford mechanic. It's just part of a multiyear deal that will have him featured in print, radio and social media advertising campaigns as well.

This collaboration is even more natural than it would first seem, since Dwayne Johnson is a long-time fan of the brand and even owns three Ford vehicles. One of them, a black F-150 pickup truck, actually has a nickname: "the black gorilla."

Ford further enhanced this association by saying: “His genuine appreciation of the brand makes the alignment of Ford service and Dwayne Johnson a great partnership.”

Still, even though Dwayne loves his custom Ford F-150 pickup truck having described it as his favorite ride - and he does own some nice cars, including an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, for example - he might be buying into all that aluminum is bad thing. Last year, a fan asked him on Twitter which of the two main American pickup brands he likes more, Ford or Chevrolet, this is what he replied: “Been a Ford guy for years now. Been eyein' that new Silverado though.”

People have been saying this for a long time: monogamy is not an easy thing. Unless there's a hefty advertising contract thrown in the mix.
